The Town of Castle Rock is the county seat of Douglas County, Colorado, United States. Castle Rock is located on East Plum Creek, a small stream which periodically floods, about 35 miles south of Denver and 40 miles north of Colorado Springs located in the heart of Crowfoot Valley featuring great views of the Rocky Mountains. Originally founded in 1874 when the eastern Douglas County border was redrawn to its present location. Castle Rock was chosen as the county seat because of its central location.Castle Rock, named for the rock formation or butte that overlooks the town, clearly visible from Interstate 25, was incorporated in 1881.


 The town of Castle Rock sits at 6,202 feet above sea level and is 33 square miles in size. Castle Rockís small town charm & beautiful views are the reasons why it attracts thousands of new residents annually.

Our climate is known as among the nationís best, with more than 300 days of sunshine and an average of 255 days of sunshine a year. The average high temperature is 85 degrees in the summer months and 44 degrees in the winter. Annual snowfall is 62.2 inches and the average humidity is 40 percent.
